Norwegian Fjord Horses

Gandalf Runs photo
RT Gandalf, 2003 NMOF Futurity Winner

RT Gandalf, a 1999 grey dun Fjord stallion, is standing at stud to approved registered Fjord Horse mares only. Gandalf is by the highly Evaluated grey dun stallion MVF Erlend and is out of MVF Kariella, a grey dun daughter of Karibu, who is also grey dun.

In addition to winning his All-Breed Futurity class as a four-year-old, (where he stood over the high scoring horse at the MI Trakhener inspection), Gandalf has twice won the Halter Grand Championship over all breeds at large all-breed shows.

Gandalf typifies this passage from the old Norwegian breed standard; "The eyes should be like the mountain lakes on a midsummer evening, big and bright. A bold bearing of the neck like a lad from the mountains on the way to his beloved. Well-defined withers like the contours of the mountains set against an evening sky. The temperament as lively as a waterfall in spring, and still."

Rads Luna and K. Maas,

Råds Luna, a grey dun mare, was purchased as a three year old in Norway. Luna had topped her youngstock shows all each year she was shown in Norway, earning very impressive scores from the Norwegian judges both in harness and in hand. Both Luna's sire, Lunnar and her dam, Råds Terna have been awarded the first premie in Norway.

Luna traveled to the US carrying a foal by Smedsmo Gråen, an exceptionally fine grey dun stallion.

Annedahl, Luna's first foal, was named for my "adopted" Norwegian grandmother, Anna Dahl. Sired by Smedsmo Gråen, an exceptionally fine grey dun stallion. Anni, also grey dun, won her yearling Futurity class the first time she was shown. In 2004, as a two year old, on her second time off the farm, Anni was Reserve Champion at a large open show. At the Northern Michigan Open Futurity in 2005, Anni was again the winner as a three-year-old. Anni just keeps getting better and better.

Kjor Elianna (by Runar fra Opdal, out of Kjor Lena), a seven year old red dun mare. She was evaluated at Libby, MT in 2008, receiving a blue ribbon for conformation.
